Sherco riders were the riders to beat in the third edition of the Bassella Race, an off road race held in the northern part of Spain. Nearly 1,000 racers showed up to compete in the extreme cold conditions. At the start of the race the thermometer was reading -10 degrees (C), since this was a dead engine start, position in the field was critical in order to get a good start in this very difficult race, the dust was very dense making it difficult to see the course in some places.
Jordan Curvalle, got off to an excellent start and was fighting for the victory the entire race, he was held back from passing the eventual winner Robert Kvarnström from Sweden because of the extreme dust in some areas that made it unsafe to attempt to pass. Jordan did however finish in second place, 37 seconds behind the leader.
Fabien Planet, came from behind and finished in fourth place nearly 4 minutes ahead of the fifth place finisher, Ivan Cervantes. This was a very good weekend for the Sherco Factory Riders.
Sherco riders had great results in other categories also, with outright victories in the Junior and Senior classes.
Gerard Esteve had an outstanding race in the Junior class, finishing more than 10 minutes ahead of his closest rival, he also finished an excellent eight place overall.
In the Senior class Ramon Falguera took the win, he also finished with a significant advantage over the second place finisher.
There is no doubt that Sherco has been the premiere brand in this edition of the Bassella
Race. In addition to the individual results shown, 6 Sherco riders finished in the top 15 in the scratch classification, being the most represented brand in the field.
